Laboratories Zotal manufactures and distributes specialty pharmacological products for veterinary use, pest control substances for use by farmers in the home and the environmental and food industry, as well as products for the hygiene, care and handling of animals.

Since the Company was founded, the main objective has been to maintain the stringent scientific principals utilized for all its preparations, along with the most meticulous and exhaustive controls within the various production processes.

By 1917, these objectives had already been rewarded by H.M. King Alfonso XIII (great grandfather of the current king, Felipe VI), by the granting to Laboratories Zotal the title of Supplier to the Royal Household.

The factory is located in Camas, a small town within the metropolitan area of Seville. Thus, the Company is part of the managerial fabric of Seville and Andalusia.

The Laboratories Zotal company belongs to Tejera y Olivares, S.A.; active since 1909 and, therefore, soon to complete its first century in existence without having lost its character as a family company now in its fourth generation.

Laboratories Zotal is one of the oldest family-owned companies, its years of performance crediting it as thus, and has been under the same ownership since its foundation.

Laboratories Zotal is registered as number one in the General Office of Animal Health of the Ministry of Agriculture. It is therefore a pioneer in the production of products for use in animal husbandry. Equally, it is recognized by and registered with the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs and the Spanish Agency for Medications and Health Products (Agencia Española de Medicamentos y Productos Sanitarios). It also has products authorized in countries within Europe, America and Asia.

Its big lines for sale and production consist of all the specialties related to health and hygiene: disinfectants, insecticides and rat poisons, as well as pharmaceuticals for veterinary use. It also produces for sale detergent products for animal husbandry and the food industry and others for the hygiene, care and handling of animals.

Laboratories Zotal is certified with the UNE EN ISO 9001 norms for its Quality Administration and UNE EN ISO 14001 for its Environmental Administration. Excellence within its administration is a managerial philosophy, while its main challenge is continuous improvement within all departments of the Company: personnel, products, quality, environmental impact and, in the top spot, its clients. Bearing this in mind, and to demonstrate its commitment to the environment, itsEnvironmental Administration system has been validated according to the European Union Regulation (CE) Nº 761/2001 EMAS.

It is of key importance that the manufacturing facilities produce products according to the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) norms or Norms of Correct Production, as ensuring quality in pharmaceutical production is vital. A broad group of procedures have been implemented that involve the various aspects of production, from the raw materials to facilities, machinery, quality control and the qualification of personnel or, to be precise, control from the start of the process until the products reach the consumer.

To be able to ensure the correct administration of the norms there are, amongst its personnel, engineers and graduates in chemistry, veterinary science, and pharmacy. These scientists guarantee, on the one hand, maximum quality of the products. On the other, they guarantee that the crucial process of R+D+I is constantly investigated and that new formulas are developed within the specialty fields of the Laboratory – the final objective client satisfaction.
