ARPON® Hoko Ex is a water-soluble granular larvicide insecticide, specially indicated for livestock, agricultural, and equine environments. It has proven maximum efficacy against different species of flies (Musca domestica and Stomoxys calcitrans).
Ciromazine, the active component of ARPON® Hoko Ex, is an insect growth regulator that belongs to the triazine derivatives group. Ciromazine interferes with the insect’s chitin metabolism, preventing the treated larvae from molting to the next stage, thus interrupting the insect’s life cycle. The molecule shows high specificity for fly larvae.
The effect on the adult fly population becomes visible approximately 2 weeks after the first application of ARPON® Hoko Ex. Usually, two to four treatments per year are sufficient to keep the insect population under control.
Dosage
The dosage is:
- 25 g of ARPON® Hoko Ex per m²
- 2.5 kg per 100 m²
- 25 kg per 1000 m²
ARPON® Hoko Ex can be spread dry, poured, or sprayed with a watering can or sprayer. Before being applied with a sprayer or as irrigation, ARPON® Hoko Ex must be diluted in water. The product can be applied in the presence of animals as long as direct contact with them is avoided during treatment. Do not spray animals, drinking troughs, or feeders.
Application Method
The product should be applied according to the moisture level of the excrement:
Dry spreading: In the case of moist excrement, directly spread the granules on the surface at a rate of 25 g of product per square meter. Sprayer application: To treat other surfaces or directly on solidified manure, apply 25 g per square meter of surface in a volume of 1 to 4 liters of water. Watering can application: To treat other surfaces or directly on solidified manure, apply 25 g per square meter of surface in a volume of 4 to 10 liters of water.
The treatment can be repeated every 6 weeks or when the thickness of the bedding has increased by more than 10 cm.
